Meet Logan

Show your Heart & Sole - Walk for Sick Kids just like Logan

Maddy's world was shattered when her six-year-old son, Logan, was diagnosed with Lymphoma.

Unable to work and needing to be far from home for Logan's treatment, Maddy turned to RMHC Northern NSW to keep her family together and Logan close to the medical care he needed.

"I don't know what we would have done if we didn't have the Ronald McDonald House. Financially, it would have been almost impossible for us to be here with Logan."

"The Volunteers and team have turned into my support 'army' - they've helped take the pressure off. It's lovely to have people around you in the same situation too; being around other families that just get it has helped a lot."

"With Logan's diagnosis, I developed anxiety. Knowing we were safe at the House and that the hospital was just across the road if anything was to happen was a huge relief."

While in hospital, Logan's family found solace in the J1 Family Room. Less than a minute away from Logan's ward, it gave them the space to reset, play and have time together away from the clinical setting.

"The Family Room has helped a lot, especially when Logan was needing to be o 24-hour chemotherapy - not having to stray very far was reassuring. Having access to the washing machines close by, the food and meals took a lot of the pressure off too."

For Logan, the House and Family Room have been a sanctuary throughout his months of treatment, and where he has met some of his closest friends...

"My favourite part about being at Ronald McDonald House is being friends with new people and the food - it's really yummy." - Logan

Each year, thousands of families with a seriously ill or injured child turn to RMHC Northern NSW to keep their family together when it matters most - just like Logan's did.
