How do I register?
To register, click here and follow the prompts.

What is my wave time?
Your wave time will be included in your registration confirmation email.
Please adhere to your wave time. Due to safety considerations, we are only permitted a certain number of participants across sections of the course at any one time.
When and where can I collect my bucket hat?
Please arrive at least 45minutes prior to your wave start time to allow plenty of time check in and collect your bucket hat .
Check in opens at 6am on Sunday 25th May. Please note that we are unable to post your items if you don't collect them on event day.

What impact will aiming to raise $480 have?
Heart & Sole – Walk for Sick Kids is one of the biggest fundraising events supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW. Every dollar you raise helps provide a home-away-from-home for families with seriously ill or injured children.
By aiming to raise at least $480, you'll help cover three nights of accommodation for a family staying at Ronald McDonald House — giving them comfort, care, and support when they need it most.
Plus, to thank you for your incredible effort, you'll earn a limited-edition Heart & Sole bucket hat!

Where does the money raise go?
The funds raised for Heart & Sole – Walk for Sick Kids will go towards supporting the thousands of families that rely on the Ronald McDonald House, Family Rooms, Family Retreat and Learning Program each and every year. We’re 100% community owned and operated organisation and every dollar raised has big impact.

General questions
Can I change my start wave time after registration?
If the wave participant numbers allow, we will do everything we can to accommodate requested changes, however wave time numbers are limited.
Please reach out to our event team via events.nnsw@rmhc.org.au with your request and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Can my whole family walk in Heart & Sole?
Of course! This is a family friendly fundraising event - the more the merrier.
What if I'm injured or sick and can no longer attend the event?
When registering for Heart & Sole, the Terms & Conditions must be accepted by each individual entrant.
Event day
How do I get to the event?
Can I register for Heart & Sole on the day?
How do I get home/back to my car after the event?
Public busses marked #B13 leaving from the bus stop at the entrance to John Hunter Hospital will take you back to Foreshore Park. The timetable can be found here
If you are getting picked up, your ride can collect you from the carparking areas of Byrne House and District Headquarters, located in the JHH Precinct.
Please avoid being collected from outside the Hospital entrance and/or Ronald McDonald House Newcastle (there will be no vehicle access to Ronald McDonald House carpark)
How long is the course and how long will it take?

Depending on the pace you walk, it will take you between 5 – 7 hours to complete the 20km.
What is available on the course?
At the top of King Edward Park will be Sno Cone to Go with food & drinks available for purchase with all proceeds being donated back to RMHC NNSW.
Various cafes and public toilets are available along the course (and marked on the map).
Plus you will see our wonderful volunteers out on the course to cheer you on!
Medical support staff are available at the starting point, on Scenic Drive and at the finish at Newcastle House.
What if it rains on the day of the event?
We will be monitoring the weather in the lead up to the event. If extreme weather indicates the event will be cancelled and all participants will be contacted.
What do I need to bring with me on the day?
WHAT TO WEAR
- Sun hat
- Shorts or comfortable pants / leggings
- Sun protective clothing
- Well fitting walking shoes or trainers (that have been broken in before the event)
- Lightweight waterproof jacket (depending on weather forecast)
WHAT TO BRING
- Sunscreen
- Energy-giving snacks (protein balls / muesli bars / trail mix etc)
- Spare socks (in case there's light rain)
- Any personal medication (asthma etc)
- Basic first aid kit (paracetamol, band aids, antiseptic cream, blister plasters etc)
What can I expect to see at the event start?
Will there be First Aid at the event?
If you are feeling unwell please report to the nearest volunteer, official or medical personnel as soon as possible.
If you see a fellow participant in distress, please report the incident by calling the Event Lead (Lisa via 0473 109 958), see a member of the event crew or medical support team member.
In an emergency please dial “000” and report the exact location of the incident.
