Keeping families close for over 30 years

Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW (RMHC Northern NSW) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing vital programs for families with seriously ill children.

We first opened the doors of Ronald McDonald House Newcastle in 1991.

Since then, we’ve continued to expand our services for families with seriously ill or injured kids – opening another Ronald McDonald House in Tamworth; two Family Rooms in the John Hunter Children’s Hospital and one Family Room in Gosford Hospital; and a Family Retreat in Forster.

Our Ronald McDonald Learning Program supports sick kids and their siblings, equipping them with the tools to catch-up on any education they have missed due to illness.

Through supported accommodation and wraparound services, we strive to keep families together when life gets turned upside down due to a child’s illness.

Our programs are run by a tirelessly hard working team of staff and volunteers, aided by the generous support of our donors, sponsors and corporate partners.

More than just a place to stay...

Our two Houses located in Newcastle and Tamworth provide a 'home away from home' for hundreds of families in need each year.

Our three Family Rooms located within John Hunter Children's and Gosford Hospital's provide a sancutary for families close to their sick child's bedside.

Located in Forster, our Family Retreat offers families with sick kids, or those grieving the loss of a child, a place to recharge and reconnect.

The Ronald McDonald Learning Program supports seriously ill and injured kids, helping them catch-up on missed education due to illness and transition back to school after recieving treatment.
