Comfort during chaos
Lauren and Eddie really came to appreciate the Family Room after their son Arnie was admitted to Hospital.
Seven-month-old Arnie, like so many other little ones this year, was diagnosed with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) which is a virus that causes respiratory infections and it is common in children under two.
“I’d heard so much about how families are helped when their child is sick, but have a whole new appreciation for the difference places like the Ronald McDonald Family Room make for families after our own personal experience.”
During Arnie’s 5 night stay in hospital, mum Lauren took advantage of a hot shower in the Family Room which she said was “wonderful, clean and spacious” and valued the helpful and kind volunteers who made what was a distressing and chaotic time, a little easier.
Thanks to your generous support, families with a sick or injured child in hospital can visit the Family Room, have a tea or coffee, freshen up with a shower or find a quiet space for a much-needed nap away from the clinical environment of the wards.
