We're all about family at Ronald McDonald House.
When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness or injury, it impacts the whole family. Lives can be turned upside down. That's why Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW provides a range of support and programs to help families from across New England and the North West region stay together and close to the care they need.
Our Ronald McDonald Houses in Newcastle and Tamworth are keeping families under the one roof and close to the hospital at no charge. Families often have to travel far from home to receive the medical care their child needs. Our 2 Houses provide essential care and support for families, only steps away from the hospital.
The Ronald McDonald Family Retreat provides families with holiday accommodation to relax and reconnect. Overlooking the beautiful Wallis Lake in Forster, the Family Retreat gives families with a seriously ill child, or those grieving the loss of a child, the opportunity to take a break and spend time together. Families with a seriously ill or injured child often don't have access to money to pay for a getaway so by providing 1 week's accommodation, they can focus on spending precious time together making memories.
The Ronald McDonald Family Rooms in Gosford and Newcastle provide a comfortable place for families to rest and recharge in hospital. Located within the hospital and just moments away from their child's bedside, carers can make a cup of tea or coffee, take a shower, or simply rest. The Ronald McDonald Family Room is free of charge to visiting families saving each family an average of $36 per day. Many families from the New England and North West region who are spending hours in the hospital make use of the Family Room before returning to the House for the night.
Our Ronald McDonald Learning Program is helping sick kids catch-up on missed education, making the return to school less stressful. Also, our EDMED program helps ensure teachers are well equipped to support seriously ill children returning to school.
Families have access to this support because of the generosity of the community. Without the help of individuals, business and community groups, we wouldn't be able to do what we do. COVID-19 has had a significant impact on our fundraising, and now more than ever, we need your support.
By teeing off at the Ronald McDonald Family Retreat Charity Golf Day, you'll be helping to provide families with the support and comfort they need while having a great day out with friends.
