You can help give a home away from home to families like the twins, Oaki & Miley

When twins Oaki and Miley were born at 25 weeks their family was completely turned upside down.  Weighing just 600 grams each the twins had to be fighters to survive.

The family unit was split, with Dad, Paul staying home to care for their two older children to keep their normal routine. While Mum, Kayla was living at Ronald McDonald House, two hours from home, so she could spend every waking hour by the girls NICU bedsides.

“Ronald McDonald House became crucial in our family’s long journey. It gave me somewhere to rest my head of a night, after long stressful days by the girl’s bedside.

And it provided a space where our family could be reunited on a weekend.”

Mum, Kayla

For 133 nights’ the staff and volunteers at Ronald McDonald House gave mum Kayla the strength she needed to get through each day.

“They were there to comfort me on the toughest days, pick me up when I came back late at night in shock and despair and they were there to celebrate the smallest of victories.  They have become family and we are forever grateful for the love, support, care and compassion they showed during a time when we needed it the most.” says mum Kayla.

You can help families like Kayla’s stay close to their sick child in hospital with an urgent donation today.
