Meet Emma

Thirteen year old Emma, from Redhead, was diagnosed with Leukaemia in July last year.

Just one week after her diagnosis, the family met with Dayle, our Learning Program Coordinator who has been supporting Emma, her siblings and the family since.  From providing information and connecting the family to resources to make their difficult journey a little easier.  Supporting Teachers and the School to be able to provide the best support for their seriously ill student and also helping Emma transition to starting Year 7, while remaining connected to her friends and peers.

The Learning program has also been a great support to Will and Bell, Emma’s brother and sister who have been participating in our Siblings Pilot program, where we provide a tutor to help them keep up with their education.

Alex, Emma’s mum says “I do not know how I would have navigated Emma’s illness without the support of Dayle and the Ronald McDonald Learning Program.”

This September, individuals, schools, gyms, and businesses will be joining forces for the Ride for Sick Kids to provide crucial funds that will help us to keep our doors open, so we can support hundreds of other families, just like Emma's.

Will you jump on a bike to help?
