2025 CEO Walk In My Shoes RMHN - October

I'm taking part in CEO Walk In My Shoes

I’m Jason Smith, and I’m proud to be taking part in the CEO Walk in My Shoes - spending a day in the shoes of families staying at Ronald McDonald House Newcastle.

Why am I doing this?

Because no parent ever imagines hearing the words: your child is seriously ill. In that moment, everything changes. Families are suddenly uprooted, forced to leave their homes, jobs, and communities behind to access the life-saving treatment their child urgently needs.

Ronald McDonald House becomes their home away from home - a place of comfort, support, and stability in the middle of unimaginable stress. Most of these families are over 100km from home and facing the toughest challenge of their lives.

Here’s just a glimpse of what Ronald McDonald House Charities offers:

  • Accommodation 365 days a year at no cost to families

  • A warm meal after long days in hospital wards

  • Educational support through the Ronald McDonald Learning Program

  • And most importantly, the chance for families to stay together when they need each other most

Because no child should have to face illness alone.
Because families should be focused on healing - not on where they’ll sleep or how they’ll afford it.

I’m walking in their shoes to understand their journey and to raise much-needed funds and awareness.
Please support me, and together we can help Ronald McDonald House continue being the lifeline that so many families need.

If it were your child or loved one, wouldn’t you want to know they had this kind of support?
