When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness, it can have a devastating impact on families. As well as the uncertainty and fear, there’s added stress for families who don’t live close to the medical care their child needs.
So, from 26 to 30 August, I’m one of a dedicated group of riders pedalling from Grafton to Newcastle in five days. That's around 100k's a day over some challenging terrain.
Together, we aim to raise $250,000 to help sick kids and their families.
Each year around 700 families from Northern NSW are given a "home away from home" at Ronald McDonald Houses in Newcastle and Tamworth so they can be near their child in hospital. Over 8,000 families take a break from their child's hospital bedside in one of the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms at John Hunter Children’s Hospital and Gosford Hospital. 150 families are able to relax, reconnect and create precious memories together with a week's free holiday at the Family Retreat in Forster. And over 160 students are able to catch up on their missed education through the Ronald McDonald Learning Program.

Wednesday 16th Jul I'm cycling 412km in 33 hours to help raise funds to support the Ronald McDonald House Ride for sick kids - that’s 1km for each of the 412 families who stayed at the Newcastle House in 2024, over 33 hours to honour its 33 years of supporting sick kids and their families. Every dollar helps keep families close during their toughest times.
Why I Ride
Wednesday 11th JunIn 2024, I became the first woman to complete the full 500km Ride for Sick Kids from Glen Innes to Newcastle. This milestone wasn’t about breaking records—it was about breaking barriers and showing what’s possible when we ride for a cause bigger than ourselves.
The ride was tough—five days, steep climbs, and endless hours in the saddle—but nothing compared to the challenges faced by families with seriously ill children. Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW provides them with a place to stay, meals, and emotional support during the hardest times of their lives.
I ride to keep families close when they need it most. I ride to raise awareness and funds so that no child has to face illness without their loved ones nearby. And I ride to inspire others—especially women—to take on challenges that matter.
Together, we can make every kilometre count.
